R-RING

An R-RING is a quick-retaining component formed from elastic wire into a shape similar to the letter “R.” It may also be referred to as an R-Clip or Hairpin Cotter. After being inserted through the cross hole of a shaft pin or connecting pin, the curved section uses its spring clamping force to help prevent the pin from becoming detached.

Product Name: R-RING / R-Clip / Hairpin Cotter
Product Structure: One straight leg combined with a wave-shaped elastic retaining leg
Primary Functions: Retention, stopping, positioning, and quick fastening
Applicable Positions: Shaft pins, connecting pins, clevis pins, and shafts with cross holes
Wire Diameter: Selected according to the mating hole diameter and required retaining load
Length: Determined according to pin diameter, insertion depth, and available installation space
Clamping Range: Designed according to the outside diameter of the shaft pin and the curved retaining structure
End Types: Flat-cut, angled-cut, rounded, or other specified forms
Materials: Spring steel, carbon steel, stainless steel, or other specified materials
Heat Treatment: Applied according to elasticity, hardness, and fatigue-resistance requirements
Surface Treatments: Zinc plating, nickel plating, black oxide, phosphate coating, passivation, or other specified finishes
Production Methods: Wire bending and forming, heat treatment, and surface treatment
Production Options: Standard specifications or custom production based on drawings

Quick Installation and Removal

Insert the straight leg through the cross hole of the shaft pin, and the curved leg will clamp around the pin body. No nut or special tool is required to complete the retention.

Elastic Clamping Helps Prevent Disengagement

The wave-shaped structure uses the spring-back force of the material to maintain contact with the shaft pin, helping reduce the possibility of the R-RING slipping out due to vibration or operation.

Suitable for Repeated Assembly and Disassembly

Unlike a conventional cotter pin, the legs do not need to be permanently bent after installation. The R-RING can be pulled out directly during removal, making it suitable for mechanisms that require periodic adjustment, cleaning, or maintenance.

Simplifies the Retaining Structure

An R-RING can replace certain combinations of cotter pins, nuts, and washers, helping reduce component count and shorten assembly procedures.

Wide Range of Applications

R-RINGS are commonly used in agricultural machinery, construction equipment, trailers, automotive and motorcycle components, linkages, casters, fitness equipment, and various pin-and-shaft assemblies.
